For us in the hoi polloi, schadenfreude can be quiet satisfying. We love to see the mighty fall. We love to see them make fools of themselves. Because we are too powerless to take them down from their pedestal, we relish the few moments that they inflict damage on themselves. There's no better satisfaction that we in the lower classes can derive than seeing those in high society slam their fugly selves down to earth.
Hence this blog.
We will chronicle the travails of Brian Gorrell and DJ Montano and the others who got raked over the coals of Gorrell's phenomenal blog.
But we also know that his story goes way beyond what a scumbag supposedly did to him. His story, in fact, is what happens when people steeped in a decadent lifestyle couldn't keep up with the demands of such a lifestyle. In this sense, and when that happens, the so-called "high society" perpetuates a crime such as the one Gorrell went through. Our history as a nation is replete with examples of how the rich, the famous and the mighty committed these atrocities.
And so we will spare no one. To us, schadenfreude has become a contact sport.
